Jorryn Legacy Secured for NZ Farmers

Jorryn Dtr

Jorryn Legacy Secured for
New Zealand Farmers
Unfortunately Jorryn is no longer with us, but his legacy has been secured for New Zealand farmers with Samen NZ having three sons that are either cuurrently producing semen or due to commence production for 2012.
In Canada, Jorryn is positioned at fourth place in the Canadian bull ranking list, while In Germany and the Netherlandshe he is also placed high in the rankings.
Internatonally, from all bulls with more than 1,000 daughters in their index, Jorryn is positioned in second place. Over 8,000 Jorryn daughters are now producing milk in more than 10 different countries.
Besides the three Jorryn sons, that will be producing for the New Zealand market, K.I. Samen have also tested, three sons of Jorryn for the European market.
In New Zealand Jorryn has been used successfully to breed money making commercial cows, attracting very positive comments about their production and management.
Jorryn daughters are calm animals that cope very well in large herds. Their feet & legs are excellent and stand up well to the long walking distances common to New Zealand farming conditions.
Jorryn users in New Zealand are however, not the average New Zealand dairy farmers. They know these cows are highly productive, but animals that need to be fed well in order to realize their full potential.
Jorryn was first used in NZ in 2003. His early daughters started producing in July 2006, and early in that year Jorryn scored unheard of highs for Breeding Worth (220 points), but lower for fertility, somatic cell count and milking speed. This was all pedigree based and unfortunately, discouraged AI companies from using Jorryn as a sire of sires.
At Waipiri Holsteins, one of New Zealands highest producing and well known dairy farms a Jorryn daughter Waipiri Jorryn Safari is currently the highest yielding 2 year old in the country. Jorryn daughters are also appearing with regularity in the results sheets from a variety of regional competitions, verifying his potential in commercial operations.
Also important to New Zealand producers,Jorryn daughters maintain their condition, producing easily with low body weight loss. This of course is a contributor to their fertility. Back in 2006 this was clearly obvious from his first NZ daughters and with his aAa code of 435. Nowadays Jorryn is delivering a better than average score for fertility in New Zealand as he has done in the Netherlands.
With Jorryn’s early passing, his legacy will unfortunately be restricted to the nucleus of sons currently in production. He was arguably the best Jocko Besne son for NZ conditions and there are high expectations for the future of his sons and grandsons in this country.
